The APRU-IRIDeS Multi-Hazards Summer School 2019 was held from 22 to 25 July at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan

The APRU-IRIDeS Multi-Hazards Summer School 2019 was held at the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), Tohoku University on 22-25 July, under the theme of “ Supporting the interface between science and policy for decision making in disaster risk reduction”.
The summer school was attended by 58 students and faculty members from 26 universities and organizations,  11 countries and region,  mainly in the Asia Pacific Rim. 17 participants of them were from the member universities of the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU). Through this 4-day program,  they learned about the impact and recovery process of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami and developed a DRR project proposal based on their own research in a group exercise.
